Apple Group of Companies scoops three awards at industry showcase

The Apple Print Group of Johannesburg scooped up awards in three categories at the prestigious GAPP Awards hosted at Emperors Palace on Friday 12 October. Sammy Naidoo, together with his son Shumarlan Naidoo, collected Winning Achiever Awards in the categories Litho Sheetfed Books; Digital Printing - Single Sheet; and Digital Printing - Books, on behalf of Apple Print and Packaging.

‘It was a great feeling to be recognised for the efforts that our teams at Apple Print put into ensuring top class quality of all the work that we do for our diverse clients,’ said Sammy Naidoo.‘These Achievement Awards will take pride of place in our premises as an inspiration to spur on even better performance by us,’ added Shumarlan Naidoo.

The biennial GAPP Awards covers 54 categories of print spanning all substrates and all types of print from litho printing, signage, gravure and flexo as well as all types of end-products from stationery through to packaging.‘What was also very pleasing at this year’s Awards was to see so many awards, including almost clean sweeps in some categories, by some of our peers in the industry who have come a long way, like us, in an industry that still remains dominated by large companies in one particular community of South Africans.

‘This is testimony to the hard work that is being put in by many companies like ours that lead to confidence in our ability to compete with giants that have been around for many more decades than us,’ Sammy Naidoo said as he also congratulated some competitors who took away major awards.

‘We attribute our own humble success to consistent investment at two levels - in our staff who work so hard to produce the results that our clients demand and which we as management insist on; and in bringing in the right technology to back them up to achieve this,’ said Shumarlan Naidoo.

‘Now we want to target more categories at the next awards in two years’ time, and we also laud the decision by the organisers to take the GAPP Awards to the next level by having an international competition with regional finals, which could introduce a different kind of fairness to the competition between large, medium and small companies,’ Sammy concluded.
